On 30 March 2023, the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) ordered, as a matter of urgency, the provisional restriction of the processing of the personal data of data subjects established in Italy carried out by OpenAI L.L.C., a US company that is the data controller of personal data through the 'ChatGPT' system, a chatbot system based on artificial intelligence called 'Conversational AI' programmed to converse with the public.
