European Court: absolute ban on registration of a EU trademark – Energy retrofit in the real estate sector

The EU Court ruled on cases T-359/12 and T-360/12 with two judgments rendered on 21 April 2015, and confirmed the pronouncements of the OHIM, which declared null and void Louis Vuitton’s EU trademarks (depicting a chessboard) .

The attention to issues related to energy efficiency, that is, according to the European directives definition, the ability to ensure a given production process or the provision of a service through the use of the least possible amount of energy, is gaining a priority position on the agenda of many Governments.
