Artificial Intelligence and copyright 4.0: what protection for AI creations?

Until some decades ago, it was believed that none but humans could produce an original or creative work likely to be protected by copyright laws. Hence, with the digital revolution and the development of the industry 4.0, a question arise spontaneously: now that AI has started communicating, painting and composing, who should own the IP rights of AI-“created” works?
