The European Commission has adopted the first measure under the new International Procurement Instrument (IPI), restricting access to EU public procurement for economic operators and medical devices originating from the People’s Republic of China.

The decision was taken following consultations with Member States and an assessment of alternative supply sources, with the aim of ensuring minimal impact on EU economies.
