CBA strengthens its Compliance, Data Protection & Cybersecurity practice with the addition of Riccardo Guarino

CBA announces the appointment of Riccardo Guarino as Counsel.
Riccardo joins the firm as part of its broader strategy to strengthen, expand, and further integrate its Corporate Compliance offering, with a particular focus on enterprise risk management, including Legislative Decree No. 231/2001, data protection, governance frameworks (including delegations of authority and powers of attorney), as well as contract management and control processes in high-risk areas.
Riccardo joins from a leading company in the large-scale retail sector, where he served as General Counsel. He brings extensive experience in corporate law, corporate compliance, and sector-specific regulations, advising companies and complex groups on the integrated management of legal, regulatory, and organizational matters. He also has significant expertise in designing governance and control frameworks aligned with applicable regulatory requirements.
In addition to his legal practice, Riccardo serves as director of university master’s programs and is the founder and editor-in-chief of Ius in Itinere, a legal journal focused on in-depth analysis of law and compliance topics.
In the compliance field, he has led the design, implementation, and ongoing update of numerous Organizational, Management and Control Models pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 231/2001. His experience includes conducting risk assessments, mapping sensitive processes, and developing procedures, protocols, and control measures aimed at preventing criminal offenses and mitigating risk.
In the area of data protection, Riccardo acts as Data Protection Officer (DPO), assisting organizations in ensuring compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), adapting internal processes, and overseeing ongoing compliance requirements, including coordination with internal functions and supervisory authorities.
From a governance perspective, he supports management in the definition and review of corporate structures, with a particular focus on delegations of authority and powers of attorney, decision-making processes, and internal control systems. He also serves in multiple Supervisory Bodies pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 231/2001, including as chairman.
Riccardo also advises on corporate and commercial contracts, with a specific focus on procurement and relationships with suppliers and business partners, ensuring legal and compliance alignment while contributing to the mitigation of legal, operational, and reputational risks.
“The addition of Riccardo strengthens the Firm’s capabilities in areas that are increasingly critical to effective corporate governance”, commented the Firm’s Management Committee.
